The call of duty needs answering once again, as the blockbusting first person shooter series returns to the modern day in call of duty modern warfare 2 for XBox 360. A direct sequel to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, you now play new character Sgt Gary "Roach" Sanderson. Your commander is "Soap" from the first game as you join a multinational anti-terrorist squad out to stop Russian ultra nationalists.

It's arguably the hottest game of E3, but aside from a trailer that plays every couple of hours at Activision's gigantic booth you won't find it on the show floor. Instead, you have to get insider access for a small, intimate demo of modern warfare 2 with Infinity Ward heads Jason West and Vince Zampella.

This is a demo that takes place relatively early in the game, though Infinity Ward didn't want to be any more specific. The game itself is still deep in development; the company doesn't know how long the campaign will be because they're still working on levels. The designers can always remove some levels if they feel they're not up to Infinity Ward's standards, and that would affect the length of the game considerably.

It all makes for a thrilling E3 demo, but of course, E3 demos are supposed to thrill. Still, West and Zampella are aware of all the scrutiny on Infinity Ward right now. "The stakes feel a lot higher," West said, but he added that Infinity Ward always puts a lot of pressure on itself to deliver a quality product. Still, they know that everything that they say or do is going to be analyzed to death, as everyone is parsing what they say for clues to what is easily one of the most anticipated games of the year.
